Sailing Castle Hai’an, this artwork metamorphoses the urban expanse into a fleet of majestic ships adrift upon the sea, erected adjacent to the remnants of a shipyard dating back to the Japanese colonial era. Crafted with sturdy wood, it features a series of staggered sails that embody the architectural essence of Tainan spanning four centuries. It appears as though a multitude of vessels have congregated along the waterfront, their sails billowing in the breeze, poised for departure or awaiting safe return. This place acts as a central point for coming together and reconnecting, a haven to explore and reminisce about the shared memories of the city. Step aboard, set the sails, face the winds, head out to the boundless expanse of the sea; we depart, we return.
